Light Up Their Lives – Solar Power for a Safer Tomorrow

In Poonakary, the absence of electricity isn’t just an inconvenience — it’s a daily struggle for survival and dignity. While we may worry about charging phones or missing a TV show during a power cut, families here worry about children studying by kerosene lamps, snake bites in the dark, and homes without light or safety.

Energy poverty in these rural areas means isolation. It means no radio, no evening conversations, no studying after sunset — just fear, darkness, and disconnection.

Appé Lanka is changing that. We’ve already powered an initial cluster of homes with solar home systems, bringing joy, safety, and a sense of normalcy to families. As the Divisional Secretariat of Poonakary shared: “They are not just happy — they are delighted.”

Now, the next village cluster of 74 homes is ready.

Let’s give them more than light — let’s give them hope, safety, and connection.
